Red Bean Soup, Chinese dessert recipe
Hopefully in this Chinese new year we can feel the sweetness of life, like red bean soup that we enjoy with family.
Preparation time : 1 day
Cooking time : 2 hours
- 2 cups red beans
- 2 L of water
- 3 tablespoons of sugar or enough
- 1 piece of dried orange peel
Serve with sago
- 1/2 cup sago
Serve with sticky rice
- 50 gr sticky rice flour
- 45 ml of warm water
- Soak red beans in water overnight if you use an ordinary stove. For high pressure stoves, the immersion process does not have to be but is also recommended.
- Put the sugar, soaked beans, water and orange peel into a large pan. Bring to a boil for 15 minutes. With the lid closed. Then restart the fire and continue to simmer for 30 minutes until the beans are really soft.
Serve sago :
Cook sago with boiling water for about 10 minutes and then set aside with the lid closed for about 15 minutes. To get rid of the sticky taste of cooked sago, we need to rinse it with cold water for at least 1 minute.
Serve with small sticky rice
Mix glutinous rice flour with water. Knead well, then divide into 30 small parts and round each one into a ball. Next time, cook the sticky rice ball in boiling water for 5-6 minutes. Transfer the sticky rice balls to a bowl dish with red bean soup.
