Tips: Peeling Cucumber So Not Bitter By Dapur Sinolin

Do you find the cucumber that you peel feels bitter and makes the taste of the food mess? This usually happens if you incorrectly peel and cut the cucumber.

The bitter taste usually gathers at the end of the stem of the cucumber. Bitter taste can occur due to temperature, fertilization, spacing, or irrigation. Bitter taste is also usually found on the skin of cucumbers and under light green skin. Bitter taste is almost never in the inner flesh of cucumbers.

Come see some tips for peeling cucumber so that it is not bitter:

  1. Peel the cucumber with a sharp knife at the end of the cucumber which is the place for flower growth. Slice the cucumber skin close to the end of the stem and stop peeling when it is only 1 inch from the stem. Peel thicker on the part near the end of the cucumber stem where most of the bitter taste is concentrated.
  2. Rinse the knife under cold water to remove bitter juice. Peel the cucumber again, starting at the end of the flower growth to the end of the stem, do it until all the peels are finished. Rinse the knife every time you peel each part of the cucumber.
  3. Cut the cucumber in half. Spoon to remove the seeds. Old cucumbers often have bitter seeds that can affect the taste of cucumbers.
  4. Cut the cucumber into small slices or boxes according to your taste and needs.
